The great thing about the ACT Matrix is that it helps you target different areas of work as a clinician. I’m the kind of therapist who really needs a lot of help in the therapy room, so keeping an image of the matrix in mind helps me see where I’ve been focusing and where I haven’t been focusing.
Here’s a short video about how the vertical line of the matrix can prompt you to bring client awareness and experimentation up into the body.
As I state in the video, we might be neglecting to access this rich interface of human experiencing which is the body. Crafting interventions that help clients notice what’s happening and do things differently with their bodies in the moment is a source of incredible therapeutic impact.
Take a look at your own work and see which end of the vertical line you tend to be more comfortable with, and maybe do some gentle investigation as to why that is.
