To expand on the video, the ACT Matrix harnesses our natural inclination to sort content into categories. The matrix lays out 4 boxes and 2 distinctions to sort into, and with very little practice we end up able to do this extremely quickly. So once we have some familiarity with the ACT Matrix we begin noticing our experiences sorting them across the two main distinctions, and into the quadrants. This happens without “doing much”, when we are well-versed in using the matrix (meaning we might not even need to sit down and draw the matrix out, or deliberately practice a skill each time we want to defuse from something).

How to structure ACT trainings for success
Catch me this Friday for my entry into the ACBS Lunch N Learn series where I will present on structuring training events.
We’ll talk about:
How to prevent running out of time at the end of a workshop.
How to balance your events with various components like experiential exercises, didactic material, demonstrations, etc.
Key pointers for training ACT material in short amounts of time.
With plenty of time for your questions.
