Six Sessions With the ACT Matrix

Watch me work with two real clients

I remember when I was an undergraduate thinking about going into the field of psychotherapy, I would watch videos of real client sessions on a platform called Alexander Street. Hours and hours of different therapeutic styles. It also had some ACT trainings! If you have a University affiliation, check if your library has access to Alexander Street, it’s an amazing training resource. Unfortunately many libraries don’t have access, and even my university stopped paying for it halfway through my program.

Lately I’ve been dreaming of creating my own dedicated platform for real therapy session videos. Helping clinicians connect with clients willing to be recorded, setting everything up in advance, and handling all the backend so that all the clinician has to do is what they do best. If you think about the field we work in it’s kind of silly, the nature of confidentiality means that you might be great friends with a fellow clinician but have never seen them at work in a real setting! In my opinion, watching clinicians work with real clients is the best way to learn.

Last year I opened my ACT Matrix Course all about how to use the ACT Matrix in your clinical work. And the central component of the course is work with two real clients.

Three sessions with each client (intake session and two follow ups). These two groups of sessions are examples of how you might use the ACT Matrix as your main intervention with clients. I lean on the matrix hard in these videos, I funnel every intervention through it. They aren’t perfect sessions—I’m not spilling with therapeutic wisdom—but they’re real.

Now I’m offering just the six session videos (three with each client) without additional commentary if anybody wants to see the ACT Matrix at work without having to buy the full course.

To emphasize one more time, this package contains only the session videos, no additional commentary or instruction. But the cool thing is since I’m demonstrating the ACT Matrix visually and doing it collaboratively with each client you can easily follow along with my conceptualization of each case.
